Wedemeyer Warns on Formosa in UN Membership Debate

General Albert C. Wedemeyer warned that allowing Red China into the United Nations and surrendering Formosa would undermine a U.S. army built up in Korea and break the strategic base network along the China coast. He argued such moves would enable Communist expansion in Asia, handing the region over to warlords and eroding free world alliances. The Philadelphia speech, cited by S. A. Light, questions current policy toward China and Formosa.
