Poll tax legal fight and state water rights move forward
In a pre trial hearing before U S District Judge Adrian Spears Texas official Ween Sanford Carr argues the federal suit to end poll tax on voting aims to bar a discriminatory practice. He cites a 1961 civil rights survey and notes revenue supports the Available School Fund. The State Water Rights Commission approves locating a new dam for the Colorado River Municipal Water District at Robert Lee to boost West Texas water supply and plan a 489000 acre foot reservoir with annual diversions for cities and industry.

The Menonites Ahead of the Mexican Rail Journey
Our trip by train from Chihuahua to Los Mochis winds through high altitude and farming regions where Mennonites cultivate former desert land. The group notes tractors and horse drawn wagons, cotton and corn crops, and a pulp wood mill high in the mountains. Local dress and behavior mark Mennonite travelers at stations while photographers seek candid shots of the community along the route.

Coastal Bermuda grasses show resilience in dry spells and farming notes
In Spian Creek area Felix Hahn Jr defers pasture, Elgin Rusenberger builds terrace system on a 20 acre field, and Henry Wandertieh installs livestock water pipline.
