The Senor Class sponsors the Round-up this semester. On Thursday, September 20, seniors met with Mrs Hopf to elect officers. Officers elected include Editor Doris Ochler Assistant editor Jerome Lange Sports editor James Tarr Typist Janice Parker and miscellaneous Kermit Strack bein.
Harper School cafeteria menus list daily meals for October 22 to October 26. Monday features roast with gravy, rice, pears, bananas, bread and milk. Tuesday meat loaf, spaghetti, corn, peaches, bread and milk. Wednesday fried chicken with gravy, potatoes, green beans, prunes, cake, bread and milk. Thursday meat balls, beans, cabbage and carrot salad, lemon pudding, butter and jelly, bread and milk. Friday salmon croquettes, catsup, Fritos, macaroni and cheese, mixed fruit, butter and grape jelly, hot rolls, milk.
A student council plans entertainment after Friday’s football game and crown events while Harper opens the district game at Center Point. The band will march the Main Street parade at 6 30 pm. Saturday features the PTA fall festival from 5 pm barbecue supper and 8 pm gym program to support school improvements.
The Longhorns beat St Josephs of Abilene 28 12 as Harper’s defense and strong offense push them toward homecoming expectations. Center Point victory noted. Friday’s homecoming looms with high stakes for the team and fans.
Two students from Harper enroll at the University of Corpus Christi for the fall semester. J. R. Mayhugh and Lonnie Mayhugh, sons of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Mayhugh, join a campus that now lists 580 enrolled, a thirteen percent rise over last year.
Mr and Mrs Max Lange were guests of Mr and Mrs Alfred Spaeth for supper Saturday nite. Kenneth Cosper and his fiance Miss Naixy Suzann Curry of Mansfield spent the weekend with his parents Mr and Mrs Pete Cosper.
The notice outlines meetings with the Stonewall 4 H Club and parents through November 24 election day for district approval. Election judges are named for Precincts 1 through 23 and Gillespie County absentee counts.
Ellis Ellebracht leaves for military service October 17. Clayton Kneese visits Kerrville area and mother Ida Kneese. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fritz and children with Mrs. Arthur Baumann visit Hy Meurer home. Donnie Phillips home on 30 day Air Force furlough. Elmer Lange family and Frank Staudt attend National Beach Rest Shooting matches in San Angelo. View relatives visit Sunday. Supt Edward Bailey and family dine with A B Barker.
Demo Dinner in Lockhart on October 15 names Dr A A Ross Sr honorary chairman for the Lyndon Johnson Rayburn fundraiser. Ross a former state health official and medical association leader is praised by Johnson as a trusted friend. Gen H Miller Ainsworth and John D Pat Patton lead the event with a 6 30 p m start at Adams Gym.
Mr and Mrs A A Wendel of Doss visited Harper Saturday Mr and Mrs Edgar Ellebracht with Miss Edith and Ellis were supper guests of Mr and Mrs Hans Wachels Sunday
Gillespie County Farm Bureau will hold its annual County Convention and Barbecue at the Fair Grounds Exhibition Hall on Wednesday October 24. Supper at 7:00 p m. Membership is 1.00 per family with a request to bring own utensils. The program centers on reviewing proposed resolutions from a committee and floor motions.
