Observations from County Agent on Green Manure Crops
County Agent A A Wehmeyer reports plowing under 17 acres of peas and sweet sudan as a green manure crop. He notes wheat grew taller on soil where peas were turned under, and praises cow peas for summer green manure and hay. Steamed bone meal helped lambs avoid stiffness, suggesting phosphate deficiency. Barnyard manure is valued as fertilizer. Terrace lines were staked off on several farms, and Harper 4 H Club noted for Ram Bouillet ewe gift.
