Loyalty Sunday Draws Strong Attendance in Gillespie County
Attendance across seven Lutheran churches in Gillespie County for Loyalty Sunday on Nov 19 totaled 2277 with 744 in Sunday School and Bible Classes and 1533 in regular services. Rev. Goerner reports about 93 percent of communicant members at St James Harpe r, while other churches lagged behind the national 85 percent average but showed improvement from last year. The hunting season opening likely reduced attendance.

Gillespie County Tax Assessor-Collector Wm M Petmecky received the title Honorary President and a Life Membership from the Tax Assessor-Collector's Association of Texas in Austin during the biennial convention. He retires after 20 years leading the Gillespie County office and was the only official from a county under 20 000 population elected to such honors.

Grain Elevator to Boost Hill Country Seed Trade
A new grain elevator project in Gillespie County will house Hart Carter Disc Cylinder and Clipper Cleaner units with 500 bushels per hour capacity each. An Eddy Giant Huller, Calkins Slurry Treater, and oat clipping machine round out the line, plus a 900 bushel unloading pit. Completion is targeted for early spring, costing about 90000 plus 15000 in machinery, and aims to store and clean seed grains for local farmers.
