Kerrville Technical Training School of the Kerrville Independent School District will begin the second semester of its Machine Technology course on November 29. Lloyd Jones announces the 12 week evening class from 7 to 10 pm, with shop instructor Ralph Curtin of Fredericksburg.
The District Explorer Cabinet of Fredericksburg Posts 135 136 and Stonewall 138 invites Hill Country posts to a December 28 tournament at Stonewall school gym with barbeque, first second and consolation prizes. Contact Harvey Eckert for entries. Court of Honor awards were announced for Tenderfoot First Class and Star Awards. The 1965 Scouters Outdoor Training Experience is slated for Nov 20–21 at Camp Tom Wooten and the Hill Country District Roundtable for tonight Nov 18 was canceled. Den Mothers Pow Wow noted with activities in Llano and Marble Falls. Harper Troop 139 set a Boy Rally for Nov 29 at Legion Hall.
Gillespie Counts 4-H Awards banquet Tuesday night November 9 recognized cowards donor and other recipients. Troop 135 chartered with Rhcheid Hoerste as scoutmaster and Desmond Sage assisting. John Dee Johnson leads machinery setup for new adult leaders as program grows.
The 1925 awards banquet at Community Hall honored multiple individuals and groups including 4H clubs, agricultural achievements, wildlife conservation efforts, and various leadership and home economics winners. Notable names tied to awards span Yvonne Kammlah Judy Bruns and more, with recognition across food shows, clothing, dairy, and safety categories.
Lions hear a talk on Stand and Be Counted stressing loyalty patriotism and service to preserve freedoms. Dr Nail cites numbers of soldiers in U S conflicts and urges Lions to stand and count in service to Lionism. Several local social and hunting notes follow about residents visiting hunting trips and weekend gatherings.
Bids invited for a used 647 model Dodge truck with a 100 gallon water tank formerly operated by the Harper Volunteer Fire Department. Bids must be received by January 10, 1966, from any member of the Harper Fire Department or town residents.
Alfonso Louis Hopf 80 of Harper died in a Fredericksburg hospital Monday afternoon November 15. Funeral services were held November 17 at 2 p.m. in the Harper Lutheran Church with Revs Hy Treptow W E Doerr and Carlos Parker officiating. Interment was in Harper Cemetery. Arrangements by Plummer Smith Funeral Home Kerrville. Surviving are wife Daisy Bertha Roberts Hopf, daughter Mrs Dennis Parker and three other children, brothers Oliver and W A Hopf, sisters Mrs Cora Nabies and Mrs Christin Dabney, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. One son Max preceded him in 1960.
