Lightning Bolt Destroys Ranch Home Near Harper

A severe electric storm hit the Harper area Tuesday night with 3 to 4 inches of rain. A bolt likely struck the TV antenna causing a fire that destroyed the four room Adamek ranch house off U S 290 eight miles west of Harper. All contents were gone and power across Harper was disrupted.

Harper Lockers Offer Free Storage For First Deer And Turkey

Harper Lockers run by Mr and Mrs Henry Moellendorf offer free storage to the hunter who brings in the first deer and the first turkey of the 1969 hunting season on opening day Saturday. The Harper plant boasts cold vaults and full processing services plus various cured meats and breads. The Longhorn Inn with Doyke Parker as proprietor will serve from 7 am to 10 pm during the season November 8 1969 to January 1 1970, except closed all day Thanksgiving November 27 and Christmas Day December 25.

Harper School Board Meeting Highlights November 3 1960

Harper School Board approved paying bills and placing safety signs on campus including a bus entrance stop sign near the gym and highway signs. Clint Brown Sells Ranch North of Harper

Clint Brown sold a 1280 acre ranch twelve miles north of Harper to Dick Hoerster of Fredericksburg in September. A smaller 300 acre ranch at Midway along the Junction Kerrville road was traded. Brown retains part of the old Blue Mountains homestead on the London FM road. The note shows $4858 as of Sept 1, 1960.
