Mrs. Herman Kaiser Rites Held for 90 Year Old Fredricksburg Resident

Mrs. Herman Kaiser 90 died October 28 at Brown's Nursing Home after four years there. Born April 22 1886 to Anton and Anna Loth she was survived by four children two daughters Emma and Cecilia Mills and two sons Joe Kaiser and Robert Kaiser plus 20 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She was a charter member of St Ann's Society and famed for crochet work winning a National Trophy. Her daughter Cecilia Mills visited Liveoak Log Cabin recently with her.

Rainy spell floods Hill Country with heavy totals

Last week Thursday and Friday brought widespread rains across Texas Hill Country West and Panhandle with totals from 1.88 inches in Fredericksburg to 2.80 inches near Doss. Beneficial moisture boosts small grains and winter grazing though cold nights to the 30s and 40s harmed livestock. Livestock water improves as tanks fill and streams run. hunting season opens November 13.

Emergency Care Assn to Meet Nov 8 in Gillespie County

The Gillespie County Emergency Care Association set its next quarterly meeting for Thursday November 8 at 7 30 p m in the Gillespie County Ambulance Building. Carter Wins State and Nation in Record Voter Turnout

Gillespie County voters joined a national surge Tuesday that secured a Carter Mondale victory over Ford Dole. Sheriff race in Gillespie decided by 91 votes, with Tuck and Brown winning district posts. Local results show Harper Precinct 5 casting 350 ballots amid overall county canvass underway.

Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts Elect Officers

Kenneth Kuykendall of Cherokee elected president and Charles Mood of Lubbock named vice president of the Association of Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts at the thirty sixth annual state meeting in McAllen attended by about 800. Kuykendall has nine years as director and alternate director, 15 years as district director and chairman, and is a past president of the Hill Country association. He was named Outstanding Conservation Rancher in 1968.

Deer poaching charge leads to fines and meat donation

Game wardens Hartmann and Kaderka arrested two North Texas men near Doss Hilda road for hunting out of season and shooting four deer. Each faced 300 dollar fines in Mason Justice Court. Meat from the deer was distributed to needy residents. Local wardens report few other deer losses, with open deer season approaching November 13.

Woodrow Ellis Granville Buried In Harper Wednesday

Woodrow Ellis Granville of Fredericksburg died Monday November 1 at 1250 am in Knapp Nursing Home at age 62. He is survived by two sons Chester Granville and Downie Granville, two daughters Peggy Marko and Kathy Granville, and three grandchildren. Funeral service set for Wednesday November 3 at 2 pm at Schautter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Milton Bierschale officiating and burial in Harper cemetery. A complete obituary will appear next week.

Membership Deadline for Bull of the Woods Contest Remains
