Christmas Postage Stamp Goes on Sale November 7 1967

U S Combat Air Forces First Lieutenant Langford C Metzger son of Mr and Mrs L A Metzger Harper Texas has earned the Distinguished Flying Cross at Nha Trang AB Vietnam for extraordinary achievement as a navigator. Despite hostile ground fire he remained over five hours to collect reconnaissance data supporting allied ground operations. He also holds the Air Medal and is with a Pacific Air Forces unit. A Harper High School graduate, he was commissioned in 1964 through the aviation cadet program.

The year to date totals show 17.79 inches through October, down from 23.90 inches for the same period last year, indicating a dryer year and summer. First killing frosts in Oct through Dec years 1952–1965 occurred seven times in November and one in December. No killing frost has been observed yet this year in the area.
