St James Lutheran Church Harper Texas lists services and recent visitors with mass times and schedule changes. United Presbyterian Church Clark with Dr Willard Moster pastor announces 11 am worship and Sunday School plus Women’s Association meetings.
County agents urge rapid treatment of all wounds in livestock to prevent screwworm infestation. Producers should spray with approved products, remove hazards, avoid crowding, and submit samples to Nisson Laboratory for identification. A confirmed screw worm case was reported in Gillespie County near FM 1623.
Mr and Mrs Wiliam Strackbein of Arkansas visited their daughter Mrs Aubrey Harper and family for graduation week their grandson Morris Hapter was among the graduates. Mr and Mrs Lamar Itz of Kerrville spent Sunday night with Chester Itz and his wife.
In Austin the Senate debates new college bills and gun control questions while a House Senate committee hammers a one year budget to avoid new taxes. Leases on University of Texas lands in West Texas yield over eight million in bids. Schreiner honors Mary Catherine Tatsch on the fifth six weeks.
Kerrville commissioners in regular session approved Dugosh Aircraft Service Co. for 3.35 additional acres at Louis A Schreiner Field with lease terms matching the existing agreement dated November 9, 1965 and subject to City concurrence. Also approved Randers Road easement extension as a public road in Kerrville South, renewed fire-fighting contract with Kerrville, and swore in Julius R Neunhoffer and others to the board of equalization.
About 150 attend the funeral of W Lee Pappy O Daniel in Texas. The two term governor who defeated Lyndon Johnson for the Senate died at 79 in Baylor Hospital. A Texas Legislature resolution honored the former flour salesman who led Texas from 1939 to 1941 and later joined the U S Senate.
Doss residents prepare for the annual school closing with a two part program on May 24 starting at 2 38 pm featuring primary and junior high plays under Miss Geistweidt and Mrs Crenwege. A noon and evening barbecue will supplement meals on the grounds.
The Edison Street and Harper United Methodist Churches form a Methodist Charge led by Pastor William Parrish. Weekly worship is held each Sunday at 8 45 a m in Harper.
Mrs Edward Klein and Mr and Mrs Werner Klein of Tivydale visited Mr and Mrs Edwin Lang Friday night. Others visiting the Langs included Mr and Mrs Harvey Klein and their son from Fredericksburg enroute to Houston, and Mr and Mrs E B Cochran with son David of Midland. David remained with his great grandfather during the visit. Mrs John Reddick and her boys of Kerrville visited her grandmother, Mrs Herbert Jones, Sunday.
All children ages 3 to 14 in Harper and surrounding area are invited to St. James Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School in Harper Texas from June 2 to June 6. Sessions run 8 30 to 11 15 each morning with a closing program Friday night. Theme is Living Gods Way.
Kinsey received Burnet honor at the Citisen Award Banquet in Saree May 12 for service in the Hill Country District. He has held top adult awards, the Silver Badge and Weed A, and is noted as an expert court reporter with 1 year in district courts and for religious humanitarian work. Mrs Kinsey earned a Scout mosque award for assisting her husband with scouting. Attending were their children Bill and Mavournea. others present included Bernie Criswell and Raymond Lee Kinsey as well as Kenneth Gary. District Judge Jack Miller of San Saba served as guest speaker.
Friends and relatives gathered May 8 1960 at the home of Dallas and Gina Rieger to celebrate the eighth grade graduation of Gina Rieger and Tommy Brandenberger. Attendees included the Rieger and Walker families, the Bode family, Ethel Rieger and others, with Dallas Rieger Weldon Walker and Douglas Bode hosting.
