The County Health Board sponsors the Summer Round-Up for pre school and new school entrants with a 35 mm film Hidden Hunger at Palace Theatre this Saturday at 3:00 p m. Parents guardians first grade teachers and PTA leaders are invited.
Miss Beverly Scott and Victor E. Aaron of Lytle were married by Rev. F. E. Kirchner at his home on May 7. The bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Scott, recently took charge of the Fredericksburg Tourist Park. Friends extend wishes for a prosperous long life together.
Line WORLD or RELIC Led by Captain Alejandro Guz man of the Salvation Army in Mexico, a Great National Evangelistic Crusade has been launched with Protestant churches. The drive aims to place a Gospel portion in every home and distribute over 5,000,000 New Testaments. Campaign begins in large cities with evening services. Also notes United Service Sabbath observances May 16 17 in US to support USO. Ervin Kramer visits Harper while Roy Stevens returns to Medina. Snook Jones from San Antonio visits Harper.
Under the Africa Committee of the Foreign Missions Conference of North America an interdenominational conference on African missionary social economic and educational problems will be held at Otterbein College Westerville Ohio June 19 to 25. About 300 delegates will attend. Dr Newell S Booth secretary of the Africa Committee will plan the program. Major topics include Present Day Africa The Church in Africa Today Africa In the Peace.
Miss Mary Murray, longtime Baptist in Arizona, has moved to Detroit where she parks among defense worker trailer camps and begins Christian service for uprooted families. She will visit trailer homes, establish Sunday schools for children, and connect residents with local churches as she moves through camps.
Mr and Mrs Forest Bode left Friday to visit Mrs Bode's parents in Abilene. Mrs Paul Bode joined them to Melvin to see daughter Mrs A B Barker and her children. Mrs August Kirchhoff and her son Lorenz were business visitors in Junction Tuesday.
Franklin D. Roosevelt writes to Dr. Douglas Horton of Boston urging a real revival of religion to quicken the spiritual life of the nation. He says such renewal would strengthen morale for the war effort and guide toward a just lasting peace after enemies are vanquished.
Mr and Mrs Carl Jordan announce the marriage of their son Corporal Eldred A Jordan of Ft Belvoir Virginia to Miss Elsie Matson of Long Island New York on April 25 Corpl Jordan is at the officers training school in Washington DC and expects to receive his commission in the engineering department in two months Miss Matson served as a stenographer for the Quartermaster General in Washington DC

The Extension Department of Texas A. and M. College plans a county wide organization to rapidly share important information with rural citizens. Community leaders from Klein Frankreich Grapetown Rocky Hill Nebo Cherry Springs and Honey Creek meet to organize. A second meeting is set for Thursday May 14 at 2 30 p m in the district court room at the courthouse. Also May 9 at 9 a m St Marys Church witnessed the marriage of Virginia Lang and Eugene Jung with a reception then a wedding trip to Houston and Galveston before settling in Fredericksburg.

Texas Old Age Assistance added 2,419 recipients in May as deaths and ineligibility reduced net gains. Blind aid rose to 2,999 recipients with $68,661 in average grants, while Aid to Dependent Children increased by 2,986 families to 12,629, with total grants of $861,806 and 3,093 new applications.
