8th Annual Young Farmers and FFA Rodeo in Harper
The 8th Annual Harper Young Farmers and FFA Rodeo is set for May 12 with a 6:00 p.m. barbecue beef supper at Harper Community Park, $1.50 per plate, hosted by the Harper 4-H Club which receives proceeds for activities. The rodeo starts at 8:00 p.m. featuring bull riding bronco riding calf roping and other events, followed by a Western Dance at 9:30 p.m. with The Roamers.

State 4-H Horse Show Set for Odessa Aug 1 4
The top 4-H horsemen in Texas will compete in the State 4-H Horse Show August 1 to 4 at the Ector County Coliseum Odessa. Open invitational events include roping cutting English and drill team. Halter showmanship western pleasure reining pole bending and barrel racing are limited to district qualifiers. A handicraft show is added this year.

The Parks and Wildlife Department will auction 15 head of official state longhorn cattle at Breckenridge Livestock Auction on May 26. Animals include 11 yearling heifers one four year old cow two yearling steers and a six year old steer. Cattle are registered with the Texas Cattle Breeder's Association and pastured at Fort Griffin State Park. Proceeds fund park grazing management.
