Greenbug Threat Prompts Sorghum Research Response
USDA reports greenbug infestations in 1972 caused crop losses in the Southwest while southern plains growers benefited from winds and storms that reduced damage in July. Northrup King scientists developed two greenbug tolerant sorghums NK 233 and NK 266, which yielded under heavy infestation. Paul Menge notes these hybrids still produced a crop even loaded with greenbugs.
