Agriculture Day Activities Highlight Texas Farm Economy

A weekly agri business roundup marks National Agriculture Day on March 24 with plans to boost farmer consumer understanding. Texas reports an 11 percent rise in the farm labor force to 230 000 led by family workers 70 percent of the total. Red meat production in Texas rises 21 percent in January to 243 600 000 pounds, while nationwide gains are four percent. Onion crop forecast for Texas dips 12 percent with harvest delays across regions. Sheep and lambs on feed decline 45 percent year over year though markets show some movement. Turkey poult hatchings fall seven percent and broiler hatchings in Texas drop 14 percent Texas eggs set down 12 percent. Subscriptions and a funding bid for a front end loader are noted, with bidding closes April 7 1975 in Gillespie County Courthouse.

Game and Fish Law Hearing Set For Gillespie County

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials will hold public hearings in Gillespie County Court House on March 26 at 10 a.m. to discuss proposed changes for the 1975 76 seasons affecting fish game animals and fur bearing species. Executive director Clayton Garrison says hearings are the first step toward county regulations under the Parks and Wildlife Commission and urges citizen input. Reports of the hearings will be forwarded to the commission.
