Second Hearing on Telephone Commission Held Monday Night

Hill Country residents from Gillespie County testified at a state legislative committee in Austin on telephone regulation. About 50 locals traveled to voice concerns while 175 to 200 people attended overall. Witnesses from Gillespie County named include Dr. Russell C. Thomas and Lary Rosenberger among others.

Briscoe pushes Texas public school finance reform plan

Governor Briscoe urges Legislature to pass his public school finance proposal as part of the appropriations bill. He highlights a weighted pupil system to raise equity, target funding to 536 low base districts, and include an renewal and accountability framework for the Foundation School Program.
