Planning vs Government Control Across National Policy
The piece argues that widespread planning now involves government action, not private initiative, with examples from the polio vaccine rollout and mass production. It questions whether TVA REA and power dams handed to private industry would lead to tighter public controls, risking a cycle of government intervention. It ends noting July 14 induction names from Local Board No. 50.

Bode Family Observes Centennial in Mason County Reunion
About 275 descendants of Robert Bode gathered July 2 and 3 for the Bode family reunion in Mason County. The event marked 1855 German arrival, featured a pageant by Rev. F W Radetzky and a Homesites tour, with a Sunday memorial by Radetzky and no reported deaths in 15 months among the clan. The Bode line began with Robert and Johanna Bode sailing from Silesia to Indianola Texas arriving July 26 1855. They settled near Castell and Martin Creek, forming Bodeville, a stock-farming community later known as Bodeville. Alexander Bode, 81, of Pontotoc Texas, is among the descendants.
