Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Cottle of Gillespie County observed their 60th wedding anniversary at their Harper home last Saturday, June 26. A barbecue dinner followed, with their two sons Omer and Oren and families among the attendees. The couple, aged 83 and 78, live in a brick house built after Mr. Cottle retired from ranching and farming. Mr. Cottle has recovered from a prior stroke and they enjoy good health. He is the son of pioneer J. T. Cottle of Bastrop County and was born in Bastrop.
Funeral services for 86 year old August P Kirchhoff of Harper were held Friday June 26 at 10 30 a m in Beckmann Funeral Chapel with Rev William Hill officiating Alfred Crenwelge sang and Mrs Victor Stahl was organist Pallbearers were John Honig Willie Honig Simon Honig Harden Rahe Gene Rahe and Herbie Oehler Burial was in Greenwood cemetery He died Wednesday June 23 at 4 30 a m He was born February 17 188 in the Meusebach Community and married Anna Wendel in Harper November 8 1917 Survivors include his widow two daughters Helen Kirchhoff and Elizabeth Mrs Hubert Rahe a son in law Hubert Rahe grandchildren Diane Rahe Mr and Mrs Hardin Rahe Shirlene Rahe Gene Rahe and Lorna Rahe a sister Minna Mrs Dan Hong and Alfred Kirchhoff He was preceded by one son Lorenz Kirchhoff sister Ida Mrs Sam Honig and a brother who died in infancy The venerated couple were married June 25 1911 in Harper by Rev Isaac McDonald The Lorenz Wendel family and others hosted a 60th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr and Mrs Cottle in Harper on June 26
