Yellow lines go down on Texas highways as no passing rule
Texas Highway Department officials explain the statewide program to paint bright yellow no passing lines across 27 000 miles of roads. The yellow center stripe is a double indemnity device to warn drivers and aid enforcement. About 65 000 gallons of paint are used since November with completion expected soon. Violating the line carries up to 200 dollars fine under the new uniform traffic code. Do not cross the yellow line.
