McCoy of the U S Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston releases 1974 Texas waterborne commerce figures from the Galveston Daily News showing a 10 million ton rise to a 24 million ton total for the year. Houston leads the state ports followed by Corpus Christi Beaumont Port Arthur and Texas City. Liquid cargo dominates with 174 1 126 481 tons and dry cargo at 97 819 06 tons. Also noted is Gulf Intracoastal Waterway traffic totaling 66 million tons.

Harper High School leader Clayton Massey announces the Harper 4 H and FFA Livestock Show at the new 48 by 40 Harper School Show Barn Saturday January 3 starting at 10 a m with judging of swine beef cattle and fryers and later fat lambs goats and sheep judged by Carl Leumann and John Menzies About 225 entries are expected with a concession stand funded by the chapters nine trophies sponsored by local firms and First State Bank ribbons for champions and prize money funded by proceeds Attendees are invited to the area stock show which precedes larger regional events and includes wedding invitation services offered by The Radio Post

Gillespie County Commissioners court allocates road funds
The Gillespie County Commissioners Court held a four day session December 8 to 12 approving a no cost emergency radio tower plan with AACOG and SRI for hospital and ambulance services. They offered land for a proposed sewer plant near Lady Bird Johnson Park and adopted FM road connections. The court revised the county road apportionment for 1976, moving percentages among Precincts and transferring funds between accounts, and approved minor expenditures and wage claim calendars.

Entries closed December 1 with 102 market steers 283 market lambs 181 market hogs and 55 pens of broilers among others. Auctioneer Dudley Althaus will begin the sale January 10 at 5 p.m.
