Guests in the A. B. Barker home for supper Friday night were Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rogers and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Stevens and daughters. A delicious turkey supper with all the trimmings was served.
Mrs Aubrey Harper surprised her husband on his birthday anniversary Friday night as several family members called. Cake and coffee were served.
Mr and Mrs Wesley Kielmann of San Angelo spent the weekend visiting the Gordon Harper family. Also visiting were Mrs Jack Baker and son Jack of Kerrville. Patronike HERALD Advertisers.

Harper Lions Club sets its annual Ladies Night for Wednesday January 19 with members from Junction Kerrville Fredericksburg and London invited. Phil Rogers leads decoration with Mrs W A Brown overseeing serving. The club also sponsors the annual FFA and 4 H Club show January 15 at Harper school grounds with booths for donations and refreshments. Mrs Edwin Klein and daughters visited Fredericksburg neighbors last Tuesday.
County officials elected in November were sworn in during a special Commissioners Court session led by County Judge Victor Sagebiel and County Clerk Felix Scherer. Reelected officials included Sagebiel Scherer Sheriff Klaerner Durst Schmidt Dietrich Land Enderle. New sworn in were County Attorney Wieser Justice of the Peace Dooley and Commissioners Rosenbusch and Jung.
An Austin man Saul Ben Hoffmann was charged with aggravated assault after an alleged attack on his wife during a drive on Harper highway near Fredericksburg. Hoffmann was released on a $500 bond after she fled the car and sought help at a nearby residence before being restrained by a bystander.
Mr and Mrs Marvin Tobin of San Antonio spent the weekend visiting his mother Mrs Tracy Tobin and sister Mrs Roy Roberts and family. Mrs Roberts accompanied them home and returned Monday. Mrs Gilbert Anderegg accompanied Dr and Mrs Paul Schwab to San Antonio Sunday afternoon for a few days visit. Open Mr and Mrs George Salcher and small son spent the holidays with relatives at Dallas and Austin. Mr and Mrs B L Cook of Fredericksburg and Miss Alice Cook of San Antonio visited Mrs J F Cook and J C Friday afternoon.
Roy Coggeshall of Denton visited with friends as Mr and Mrs Archie Lennon and daughter Miss Barbara hosted guests. The weekend gathering included Mr and Mrs Virgil Cottle and family at Ruck Springs, with Elton Spencer and children visiting Adz, and Earl Copple at Kessville Truss day.
Winners of the Gillespie County Game Protective Association hunting contest were announced as unofficial contenders. Leaders include Danny Jung with an 81 pound four point duck, and Liston Maner with a 100 pound six point back. Gordon Kidd topped a 130 pound heaviest back, while Allen Keller and Glenn Young claimed other standout divisions. No entry was received in the heaviest antlered deer division and the grand prize ice chest will remain unclaimed. Association directors will meet soon to name official winners.

Ray Smith of Llano County was named director of the Central Texas Electric Cooperative to replace George Elliott who resigned due to ill health. Applications were reviewed for the manager position left by Ralph Swanson’s resignation. W C McWilliams has served as acting manager since then.
Mr and Mrs Albert Black and their son of Katy spent the Christmas holidays with Mrs Roberts and family in the area. Herbert Lang, on Marine furlough, visited his father Arthur Lang. Others at Mr Langs Christmas Day included Dale Cook and Cindy, Robert Lange and children, Leo Lang, Oliver Lang, and Dorothy Starr and her little daughter, all from San Antonio.
Ranchers are invited to the Texas Section of the American Society of Range Management meeting at 1 p m January 7 at the Presbyterian Mo Ranch Hunt Texas. Activities include an economic incentive for wildlife panel, ranch economics, brush control methods, a banquet for new officers, and a tour of the Mo Ranch wildlife grazing area to study balance among livestock wildlife and range improvement.
Miss Leona Marie Wahl married Paul Jerome Lang at St Anthony s Church Harper in a net and lace gown with a lace bolero and veil. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs George Wahl of Fredericksburg. the groom is son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Lang of Harper. A reception followed at The Barn in Kern Vve with out of town guests Ellis Lang of San Antonio.
The Gillespie County Fair Association will hold its annual stockholders meeting January 11 at 8:00 in the District Court room of the Gillespie County Courthouse. President Calvin J. Bierschwale says a report on last year’s operations, plans for next year, and eight new directors for three-year terms will be elected. The fair is noted as the county’s largest civic enterprise with educational and entertainment value and draws many visitors to the fair grounds for events including livestock shows and races. All are invited to attend.

900 small son of Katy Texas where Mr Black teaches spent the holidays with her parents Mr and Mrs Roy Roberts. Thomas Harlan who attends Texas Tech at Lubbock spent the Christmas holidays with his parents Mr and Mrs Tommy Harlan.
Mr and Mrs O Suddeth of Eldorado and grandchildren from Dexter New Mexico visited Mrs C A and W A Spencer last Friday. Mr and Mrs Elbert Spencer and children visited Mr and Mrs Pete Crenwelge and son Friday night.
