The War Price and Rationing Board announces season price ceilings for 1945 watermelons. Beginning to June 9 set at 34 dollars per ton, June 30 to July 4 at 29 dollars, and July 5 to season end at 23 dollars. The move follows the Emergency Price Control Act to guide farmers with advance notice.
The article explains that shortages could push black market activity. It states that all used farm machinery now has fixed ceiling prices and lists coupon expirations for gas coupons. It notes invalidation of certain tire ration certificates and changes to war necessity certificates for tires and master certificates.
Rationing notes list valid red blue and gas stamps with dates for Book 4 and Airplane sheet stamps, plus a series of holiday and New Year visits. Residents Willie Meier, Granville, Lennon, Fiemming, Kleeman, Wendel, and others are noted visiting relatives across Kerrville Segovia Mason Belton and Doss, with several families staying in San Antonio and Mathis over the holidays.
