Perseverance on Wheels: Minnesota Man Tours South in 1908 Buick
Alex Semrau of Ortonville Minnesota travels the southern states in a restored 1908 Buick four passenger touring car. Despite losing his left arm and a hand to accidents he uses a hook and a determined spirit to meet people, sell postcards, and fund his journey. The story notes the car’s unique right hand drive, acetylene lights, planetary transmission, and consistent high mileage aided by careful maintenance. Semrau plans more Texas travel after visiting Fredericksburg.
