March of Dimes Benefit Nets $390 in Proceeds
The March of Dimes benefit program at the Harper Cafetorium drew a capacity crowd. Herbie Oehler chaired the event and thanked attendees as proceeds totaled 390 dollars after door, concessions, cake auction and advertising income against expenses. Elgin Esquell was named to the committee for next year with Levi Wicensing appointing the new chairman.

Harper Fire Dept Elects Wahrmund President and Roeder Chief
The Harper Volunteer Fire Department held its annual meeting in January electing Emil Wahrmund as president Alfred Spaeth secretary treasurer Richard Roeder fire chief Gene Tatsch assistant chief George Mains captain and Charles Bierschwale sergeant at arms. The department has about 22 active members with one January fire call at the Reginald McDougall residence a chimney fire caused no damage. A large share of members and their wives completed Civil Defense and Red Cross first aid courses. The annual Firemen's Dance is tentatively set for April 25 at the Harper Community Hall with no orchestra contracted yet.
