Soldier-in-the-home clubs proposed by Chaplain Pittard

Chaplain Jesse L. Pittard of the North Carolina Annual Conference asks the Methodist Commission on Chaplains to form soldier-in-the-home clubs in churches and towns. Churches would host visiting soldiers, inviting them to stay in members' homes to fill breakfast chairs and discourage cheap hotels and liquor.

U S Sends Agricultural Experts to China at Beijing Request

The United States has supplied agricultural technicians and advisors for service in China after a request from the Chinese government. Several come from Christian colleges in China background and include Dr. Walter C. Lowdermilk of the USDA plant breeding, Professor Ray G. Johnson in animal husbandry, and Dr. R. W. Phillips in animal breeding.

Texas Farmers Receive AAA Payments

Texas farmers begin 1944 with Agriculture Adjustment Act payments totaling 38.6 million dollars for 1943. B F Vance, state AAA administrator, reports 138 804 applications paid to over 195 000 producers, including 16.854 million to cotton and 14.547 million for soil-building practices. Smaller payments gain ground with automatic increases. Special dairy feed payments of 480 280 go to 34 745 dairymen for October production, with November and December to follow.
