Donald F. Mitchell of Dallas displayed an 8 point buck shot with a bow and arrow on opening day at the Carlos Grote ranch in Big Flat. He used a 55 pound Yew bow and a 28 inch steel broadhead arrow, hitting heart and lung with one shot. The deer collapsed after about 20 yards. Mitchell is a regular Grote ranch hunter, relying mainly on bow and arrow for sure shots.
