St. Anthony Discussion Club in Harper, Texas presents a Christmas reflection on humility detachment and zeal inspired by Christ. The piece urges contentment with little and devotion to others as guiding ideals for the season.

Edward Farris Daugherty of Austin Texas, a double amputee, uses a platform on steel rollers to push himself door to door selling razors strings pencils and more. He lost both legs in a 1936 dragline accident at an Austin disposal plant and despite hardship has supported his wife and three children while building a home with insurance funds. He declined gov ernment aid and continues to earn an honest living beyond medical bills and hospital costs.
Orville Gamenthaler from Tivy High School in Kerrville is home for Christmas. Pearlie Kramer, recently employed in San Antonio, returns for the holidays. Mr and Mrs Dean Hopf and daughter Peggy spent the weekend with relatives. Mr and Mrs V A Hopf heard from daughter Mrs R O Dittmar that her husband, First Lieutenant Robert Dittmar, is now commander of regimental headquarters on his return to Mississippi. Gilbert Anderegg hosted a weekend visit with the Schmidt family. Citizens are urged to buy War Bonds, contributing 10 percent of income to support national effort.
Tommy Rainbolt age 20 son of Mr and Mrs Drew Rainbolt volunteered for service in the U S Navy on June 10 1910 After training in San Diego he served on the U S S Philadelphia and was sent to Pearl Harbor for several months In the past year he served in the Atlantic and was recently transferred to the battleship South Dakota now deployed in wartime zones somewhere in the world.
Elgin Heimann, of Fred Brg Mutual Lumber Co, will oversee the Florent Texas branch. He transfers December 28 and assumes management January 1. Also notes a local warning against theft and several military updates including marriage notices and service assignments.
A thrift oriented message urges saving through War Bonds. It promotes buying ten percent of each paycheck to support national finance and national defense.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kinsey and John S. Whitewood were Kerryville visitors Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Thornton and Miss Gene Heffening visited friends at Liano Saturday.
