Christmas Seals Pushed by Clerks to Help Suffering Children
A Copenhagen postal clerk, Einar Holboell, conceived selling extra stamps to fund hospitals for children. King Christian authorized a stamp featuring the queen, and over 4 million seals were sold in 1904. Emily Bissell inspired America’s first Christmas Seal in 1907, aiding a Delaware sanatorium with rapid fundraising. The effort expanded globally, lowering tuberculosis deaths through renewed public health support.

Tragic One Car Crash Kills Ex Serviceman Russell Moehle
Russell Lincoln Moehle aged 35 years 11 months 10 days died in a single car highway crash on State Highway 16 about 13 miles north of Fredericksburg. The 1953 Chevrolet left the road struck a tree and dislodged the motor. Moehle served in the U S Navy 1947 to 1950 and was survived by his father a foster mother a sister and two brothers. Funeral services were held Monday at Schaetter's Funeral Home.

The American Legion Post 650 met Friday December 6 with Commander Lang presiding and Belton Tetsceh delivering the prayer in place of Chaplain Ed Bailey. The group noted a successful Turkey Shoot and discussed a flag display project while refreshments were provided by the Ladies Auxiliary. Attendees at the WOW Christmas party included Mr and Mrs Jack Jones Mr and Mrs Roy Roberts and other local couples.

LBJ Ranch at Stonewall owned by Lyndon B. Johnson and the Strauss Medina Hereford Ranch of San Antonio led the 1st Blanco County Hereford Breeders Association show and sale at Johnson Fair Grounds.
