War Price and Rationing Board chair O R Kiehne announces 1945 watermelon ceiling prices. Shipping point ceilings begin at 34 per ton until June 9, then 29 per ton through July 4, and 23 per ton for the rest of the season, with advance notice to farmers per the Emergency Price Control Act.
The article reports shortages could drive black market activity as price ceilings apply to used farm machinery. Several gas coupons expire or become invalid after specified dates, with A-13 expired Dec 21 and A-14 valid through Mar 21. Tire ration certificates dated March 31, 1944 or earlier are invalidated. OPA loosens tire certificate requirements for commercial vehicles and ODT stops issuing individual vehicle certificates, though a master certificate may be required to prove fleet coverage.

He returned home with two fine bucks.
