Shick Manning Bags First Buck on Willie Jeffers Ranch

Nine year old Michael Dale Manning known as Shick, guided by great uncle Frank Staudt, killed his first buck on the Willie Jeffers ranch in Mason County. The seven point, 90 pound buck was shot at 90 to 100 yards with an impressive neck break. His mother Scotty Lee Manning and grandmother Marie Taylor, both of Harper, took turns staying with him Saturday night.

Pasture Short Course Set for Harper School December 15 18

A pasture short course for adult farmers runs December 15 18 at Harper High School Vocational Agriculture Building. Phillip Nix of Texas A&M will lead with on farm instruction and pre registration is advised. An entry fee of 5 dollars will be charged and certificates awarded for full participation.

Gillespie Fair Grounds Awarded to H. C. Laughlin for 112025

The Gillespie County Fair & Festivals Association selected H. C. Laughlin Construction Co. to build the Exhibition Hall at the new fair grounds two miles south of Fredericksburg. The project totals about 112000 dollars with completion expected by April 15, weather permitting. The firm also previously won the Livestock Building contract valued at 116779 dollars.

Pesticide Rules Approved: EPA to Regulate Applicators
