The Christmas Seals Crusade and its origin story
A historical summary traces the Christmas Seals campaign from Denmark in 1904 to the American effort led by Emily Bissell in 1907. It covers Holboell’s idea, Riis’s advocacy, the Wilmington launch, the Holt newspaper push, and the initial fundraising hurdles that funded the Brandywine Shack and related TB work.
