Deer Hunt Continues With Cold Weather Boosting Storage
Gillespie County reports show deer and turkey storage lagging early in the 1972 season due to cold weather. The Radio Post tally lists 1700 bucks and 190 does stored, with turkey storage under 25. Processing plants such as Fredericksburg Lockers and KIS Corporation reported varying totals, while hunters near Stonewall and Harper weighed several bucks above 100 pounds dressed. The season opened November 18 and colder temperatures helped preserve meat, with large bucks including two 10 pointers noted.
