Ida Ceileta Honig and Mr and Mrs David Schmidt visited Kerrville and Junction on Monday. Fredericksburg visitors included Mr and Mrs John S White Wood and family. Several members attended the Woman's Encampment near Junction with multiple local attendees.
Miss Mary and Ruth Meredith are spending two weeks with Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Meredith at their home, enjoying a brief stay and social visit with the family.
Miss Lois Cosper and Pauline Blerschwale visited Kerrville on a Wednesday trip. Mrs J R Peril called on Mrs Oren Cottle the same day. Elbert Fellers works at the Red and White Store in Kerrville. Mr and Mrs Charlie Coffey shopped in Harper midweek. Mr and Mrs A J Kinsey and children and Jack Jones visited Kerrville Tuesday for medical attention. Mrs Royce Buster of Junction visited Harper Sunday. Gordon Harper returned to San Antonio after several days with family. Mr and Mrs J R Peril were Harper visitors Wednesday. A roundup of local visits and travels in Tivyda le and nearby Fritz town. Families from Fredericksburg, Morris Ranch, Kerrville, and San Antonio are noted visiting relatives, with many Klein and Fritz households hosting guests. An army induction is mentioned, a community dance at Fairy land is reported, and a rain event affected fields and roads.
The event featured Madge Whitewood, Doris Whitworth, and Audry Mae Brown with Billie Brown on guitar performing Jingle Jangle Jingle. Miss Whetstone won the Favorite contest crowned by Dean Hopf. The Hearts Delight Playboys provided music for the closing dance, with Band Mothers and P T A raising funds for school improvements.
Interviews will select about 300 Central Texans for permanent civil service positions at the Del Valle air base. Aug 31 to Sept 2 interviews at Austin High School represent U S air corps and civil service. Training at Randolph Field for first 100 hires. both men and women eligible.
A series of social calls takes place with Mr. and Mrs. Bode and son Donnie in Fredericksburg, the Cottles and Roy Cottle in Harper, and the Goffs in San Antonio where Mr. Goff had his tonsils removed. Several families entertain or visit, including June Bode's return from San Antonio and Mrs. St. Clair visiting Morris Ranch.
Otto Baumann and Alton Klaerner brought into White Oak an ear of popcorn that popped in the stalk due to heat. Report notes Arthur Zenner’s lively talk and suggests rain-soaked shacks and hot sun heated the moist corn, causing popping.
Kimble County Angora goat breeders plan Junction sale on Saturday August 29 starting at 1 PM. About 300 top registered does from pioneer Kimble breeders will be offered. Breeders say the Angora business outlook is bright and invite visitors to inspect the stock and meet experienced breeders.
Clemens Fiedler, Fredericksburg High School graduate, earned Wings with the Royal Air Force after an 11 month course with honors. He was among 15 of 42 graduates chosen to fly Spitfire planes in England. He later worked in New York and Canada before joining the RAF and returns to visit Texas plans to report to England.
Mr and Mrs H Miller of Kerrville and Mrs Cade and Mrs Paramour of San Antonio visited in Harper on Wednesday. Also Mrs Arch Barker and her young daughter of Streeter and Ruth Custer visited Mr and Mrs John Rogers and family.
