CTEC Members Advised Electric Rates Will Go Up

Central Texas Electric Cooperative officials warned at the Llano meeting that fuel shortages and increased generation costs will push electric bills higher. Manager W C McWilliams cited a $13 2100,000 plant investment since 1963 with a $6 710 00 increase and said LC RA’s shift to fuel oils may raise monthly fuel charges tied to natural gas limits. He noted a 5 percent REA loan and 7 percent CFC loan, and predicted shortages last five years unless new fossil fuel reserves are found. The event featured awards and a KTBC TV host, with prizes totaling over 600.
