Gillespie County Soil and Water Conservation District reports Marcus Rode reduced shin oak in two pastures using heavy goat grazing over four to five years. Rested rangeland improved grasses like sideoats grama while cross fencing and a 3000 foot livestock water pipeline enhanced grazing efficiency. Also mentions clover grazing benefits and a netillage workshop.

Conservation group to meet in Junction for annual session

Simon Cosper of Orange Texas spent the weekend at Liverston Shipyards with his wife who remained longer. Mrs Roy Cottle returned from visiting her sons Carroll and Howerd Cottle and attended her grandson Bobby Cottle’s wedding to Nancy Brown in Rocksprings. Mrs Forest Strentz of Kerrville drove Mrs Cottle home later. The Cottle group visited Mead Roy Raymond Cottle with Archie Lenson V A Cottle and Pete Casper. Chester Tatsch returned from Canada while Mr and Mrs Chester Dieter and two children visited Rev and Mrs Parker. Dennis Bernhardt’s small son spent the weekend with his grandparents Mr and Mrs Cheeter Bernhardt.

New Sound System Installed At Gillespie Fair Grounds

Gillespie County Fair Grounds announces major improvements ahead of the annual fair. A new sound system by Lester Behrends is installed to replace the old setup. Paving at Fourth of July work finished, dust eliminated, cattle washing facilities expanded for hogs, and improved access from Exhibition Hall to concessions. Texas Oldest County Fair aims to be the biggest and best yet.
