Miss Rural Electrification Contest Ousts Harper Teen

Miss Jan Brown 17 of Harper will represent Central Texas Electric Cooperative in the Miss Texas Rural Electrification contest at the Dallas Sheraton Hotel during the Texas Electric Cooperatives annual meeting August 11 to 13. She is a 1965 Harper High School graduate and active in 4H and Future Homemakers with a record of prizes and leadership.

Tommy Skipper Family Honored With Barbecue Supper

Mr and Mrs Tommy Skipper and their three children were honored with a barbecue supper at Harper Community Park Saturday night. About 80 relatives and friends attended the event and dance. The family had been stationed in Athens Greece for three years and recently returned to make Empire Michigan their home. They spent two weeks visiting Mrs Lydia Bierschwale and other relatives.

Harper Boy Scouts Camp Out on Liano River

Harper Boy Scout Troop 139 held a two night camping trip on the Wardlaw Ranch along the Liano River. The group traveled Thursday with Clayton Massey and Rev. W. E. Doerr handling transport, returning Saturday with Scoutmaster Reuben Klein using a pickup provided by Charles Mains. Participants included Van C Brown III Nathan Doerr Stephen Doerr Bobby Harper Morris Harper Joe Mains Brad Massey plus visitors Gary Rahe Wayne Rahe and Van C Brown Sr with W G Brown assisting Friday.

Harper School Board of Trustees will meet August 30 1965 to adopt the 1965 66 budget. Regular business will be conducted then and there will be no meeting on September 6 1965 Labor Day. Football players must obtain physician parent forms from Coach Sultemeier before practice.

Student Insurance Plan Offered by School District

Trustees approve a $3.50 student and employee insurance plan with Central American Life Insurance Co of Lubbock Texas. Athletic participants must buy coverage. football needs $15 extra funded by the School Athletic Fund. Harper Lions Club Queen Installed For 1965 66

Miss Eileen Hopf was installed July 20 as Harper Lions Club Queen for the coming year. Her first duty was representing the club at the Marble Falls parade on July 22. She is a junior at Harper High School and a cheerleader for the 1965 66 term.

Louis Feller Family Reunion Attendees At Harper Event

The Louis and Ida Feller descendants held their second annual reunion on Sunday August 1 1965 at the E B Roach ranch. Forty two descendants and five guests including Max Lange E B Roach and Ginger Trout attended with a barbecue, games and river memories. A business meeting voted next year’s reunion for Harper Community Park on the first Sunday in August. Emil Lange was reelected president Peggy Feller secretary treasurer and Clayton Feller added as vice president. Harper residents hosted and visited relatives from Houston Kerrville Fredericksburg Buchanan Dam Corpus Christi and other nearby towns. Texas Section Range Camp To Be Honored Friday Night

The Kimble County Chamber of Commerce Junction Lions Club and Junction Rotary Club will honor the tenth annual Texas Section Range Camp Friday night at 7 at the Amphitheater at the A M adjunct. Supper is a regular Lions and Rotarians meeting. Wallace Klussmann will speak on wildlife followed by a program. Graduation is Saturday morning at 8 with 30 outstanding FFA and 1H members.
