CTEC Mailing Patronage Refund Checks to Members
CTEC will send patronage capital refunds totaling 40 932 99 to 9 664 members of Conrab Texas Electric Cooperative. W C WeWilliamis says the 40 000 00 accounts for about half of 1954 margins, with earlier refunds totaling over 55 600 00. He notes the cooperative earned more than 80 000 00 in margins in 1954 and that refunds are credited to individual member accounts and placed in escrow. Guided Missile Frigate Pratt Transits Panama Canal

La Wanda Osbourn, the Gillespie County Home Demonstration Agent for 18 months, will become the County Home Demonstration Agent in Taylor County Abilene. New Home Demonstration Agent Assigned in Gillespie County
Miss Leta Ann Thaxton will succeed Miss LaWanda Osbourn as Gillespie County Home Demonstration Agent on September 1. Thaxton has been Tom Green County Assistant Agent since January 1966 and served as Agent In Training in San Angelo in late 1965. She is a Cherokee Texas native, daughter of Dr Hugo B Thaxton of Austin. Osbourn, Valley Spring native and Llano High School graduate, holds a BS in home economics from Abilene Christian College and pursued graduate work toward a Masters at Texas A&M University. She joined the Texas Extension Service in 1963 and later moved to Gillespie County as agent. Osbourn is active in several professional associations and church life, and Thaxton is a member of Texas and National Home Demonstration and Extension groups.

The Texas American Legion at its 49th convention in Dallas adopted a resolution to raise funds for the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Memorial Naval Museum.
