The Fredericksburg Machine Shop, a Gillespie County staple, announces an open house on Friday July 4 with free registrations and many prizes. The new marbleized yellow tile building replaces the old frame structure and features a 131 by 50 foot main block housing offices, a display room, and more. Construction began in 1945 46 with finishing touches applied recently.
Letter argues against allowing 400 000 displaced Europeans beyond quota. Cites 154 000 yearly quota immigrants and 312 000 aliens admitted last year, plus 1600 a month from DP camps in Germany. Opposes relaxing laws, favors prioritizing Americans and repatriation, with backing from Omar B. Ketchum and opposition by Emanuel Celler and Edward Mark O Connor.
The Fredericksburg Machine Shop expands with front end as refrigeration and display space and rear as blacksmith area. Built under E L McFarland with helpers. purchased in 1943 by Arnold Klinksick Albert Klaerner and Henry Pfeuffer. Gilbert Ottmers joins 1946. Staff grows from eight to twenty two. Mike shop hosts open day with prizes.
Mr and Mrs Louis Weirtch and their children Mr and Mrs Ervin Lange and sons Mr and Mrs Alfons Novian Mr and Mrs Edgar Stoffers and Mr and Mrs Chester Feller and son of Fredericksburg were in Harper Sunday for church services. Mr and Mrs Jinx Hart and two children visited Kerrville Thursday. Mr and Mrs Carlos Roeder left Monday to visit her parents in Philadelphia for several days.
