Moose in Alaska Peninsula Reach Six Thousand Strong
Moose experts report about 6,000 moose on the Kenai Peninsula, with broader northern regions showing prime habitat. A theory points to Alaska origin from Canadian-born populations driven south by gunfire and habitat expansion. Climate favors growth, willow and birch provide forage, forests offer cover, and mining declines aid moose presence in vast areas.
