High School Opera and Concert Events Highlight Local Activities

Hardin County Essay Contest Promises Prizes and Rules

The Hardin County Tuberculosis Association sponsors an essay contest for Hardin County high school pupils. Students from two or more classes must participate, with numbers assigned and submitted in sealed envelopes. Red Cross Roll Call Aims To Expand Membership In Hardin County

Firs Station Nearing Completion in Eldora Work

Ed and his crew lay the floor in the new fire station. The cell house and fremen's room are floored, ready for concrete in the big room. Two firemen will stay each night, with a furnished heated room for quick service. Kobachull boys to stay there.

M L Walker and V Kuck, long-running operators of the Weet Side Cafe, closed a deal to sell the business to Commons Brog of De Mojney. The two partners plan to remain in town and continue their work on the trade they built during their months at the cafe.

Margaret Elaine Morhead and father John Reece left for home. About 200 attended the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion dance at the IOOF Hall to raise funds for Gold Star Highway markers arriving in Des Moines and to be placed on the Jefferson Highway. Markers are Blue field with a gold star and white margin. The Auxiliary raised 142 dollars.
