Corn Outlook in Iowa Sees Lower Yield and Mixed Quality

Weather and Crop Bureau reports October 1 indicate average corn yield of 36 bushels per acre, down from 49 last year, with wet September reducing quality. Outlook remains favorable overall due to moderate corn and livestock balance, though losses from drought, floods, frost, and hog cholera hit some farmers hard. Also note an advisory about securing basements as mice and rats seek warm winter quarters this fall.
