Market Letter Reports Steer Slump and Lamb Rally
The heavy steer market weakened sharply with calves and hogs moving higher. California spring lambs sold around 18.90 while hogs topped near 10.15, and Nebraska feed lots faced a mixed bag as light yearlings held value. Weather and dressed-truck demand weighed on heavy cattle, with supply shifts expected as native lambs and California movement evolve toward mid June. Meanwhile Summer School opens June 4 at 8 o’clock as Presbyterian church property changes hands for use as a warehouse.
