In district court last week the Shane versus Marks trial occupied much time with a jur y out over 21 hours before a verdict. Several defendants including Maude Laure Grimes and Laura Curtis Wyatt faced trial with Grimes pleading guilty and receiving a year in jail with parole to her brother, the husband of Wyatt. Gene Genette pled guilty to forgery and received nine months in jail after time already served. The county heard numerous property deeds and several divorce and guardianship actions. Two major business changes occurred as Miss Neva Snyder sold the Wayside Inn to Mrs. M. L. Walker and Mrs. Victor S. Kuck, who will continue party service. the West Side Cafe also transferred to Walker and Buck. The new owners plan to maintain service and may pivot if a better opportunity arises. Eldora welcomes the new proprietors and wishes them success.

Young Hockenberry Captured in Green River Wyoming
Seventeen year old Hockenberry, who attacked Sheriff Lian at Knoxville and escaped from hospital, was captured in Green River Wyoming. Marion County Sheriff plans to return him to Anamosa to resume his suspended sentence. He previously attempted to strike the Knoxville sheriff with a improvised weapon. He is Grinnell High School graduate.
