Elders Iowa February 20 1917 board approves final estimates for drainage districts 76 86 and awards contract to Eldora Pipe & Tile Co for district 97 with bid of 6876.95 and bonds 26 percent. Labor bid by Ole Johnson 6721.19 25 percent. District 69 bids include Eldora Pipe & Tile Co 266.20 and Chris Hoyrub Inbor 697.20 with 25 percent bonds. Assessment changes for district 67 reduce Ex R R 33-89-21 to 144.60. Installment option allowed with six percent interest. Adjustments also made for districts 76 and 68 including canceled and reduced subdistricts. Auditor authorized to transfer 300 to teacher’s institute fund. Bonds approved for several officials. Tipton Doe Howe returned last week from Antelope county Nebraska where he has been visiting and working this past winter. A farmer plans to plant two acres of potatoes this spring requiring a substantial bank account for seed. House cleaning will soon be in full blast and the men will likely survive the ordeal. John Taylor of Buckeye township shopped in Hubbard last Saturday. Joe Howe visited at the Lewis Van Patter home last Sunday. Robbers hit the Sherman store a few nights ago and took some cash though the total was small. What remains of Cottage is reportedly to be sold at auction soon. A Mason City horse buyer has been checking draft horses in this vicinity.
