Iowa Plans Record $28 Million Road Build Next Year

Iowa's highway program aims to spend 28 million dollars on the primary road system in the coming year. Chief Engineer Fred R. White outlined plans to construct 600 plus miles of paving and 300 miles of gravel surfacing plus 500 miles of grading and bridges. The state would reach about 76 percent surfaced by next year, with 18 percent graded finish and 7 percent untouched. By end of 1923, 1,600 miles paving and 3,000 miles gravel surfacing are projected on 6,600 miles of primary roads. The year’s paving total reached 22 miles.
