Giant flightless birds stalked prehistoric plains
Among the finds, several small and large prey birds existed with one brontonite bearing a larger thigh than lanox. The giant phororhacos loomed over eight feet tall, perhaps taller than a horse, with a massive hooked beak and formidable claws. Little is known about their feeding or extinction. Skulls and other bones of this bird have been unearthed.
