Grandfather's Tearful Summer Day Memory
A farmer sits in his chair with his granddaughter on his knee as a tear moistens his eye. The scene recalls his wife and mother of the child, and the house and clock mark the quiet afternoon. Amid this tender memory the passage shifts to a discussion of modern writers and a playful but pointed critique of free thinkers and debunkers led by Mencken and Haldeman Julius.

Iowa Farm Mortgage Trends and Bank Lending in 1920s
The report shows Iowa banks and farmers navigating wartime debts and inflation. It tracks Federal Reserve and War Savings borrowings, declines by 1926, and a shift into real estate loans in late 1925. It notes only about 6 percent of Iowa farms are excessively mortgaged and contrasts ownership flexibility during 1919–1924. It also quotes a critique attributed to General Man about peace and self and neighbors.

Fragmented dialogue from a seaside scene
A garbled excerpt features characters arguing about fishing and money while a romance unfolds. The dialogue references a notice about fishing, a kiss, and social proprieties. Names are unclear, but the setting suggests a casual coastal town interaction with који.
On Receiving End and a Prayer Tale at Odds with Work
A humorous recounting compares a doer who acts only when told to the office chain from employer to cashier to bookkeeper, ending in a joke about isolation. Bishop Dicky of Waco discusses prayer efficacy via a quip about Willies Mississippi prayer, and a grocer and smoker anecdote caps the piece with a playful misinterpretation.
