County Meets Discuss County Basketball Playoffs
The Hardin county School Activities Association met in Ackley to set final plans for county basketball tournaments next month. Girls play at Iowa Falls February 18 19 with Jimmie James refereeing. Boys tournament pairings include Radcliffe Whitten Hubbard Iowa Falls Eldora Owassa Union Steamboat Rock Buckeye and more with rounds through February 6 and final in Eldora. Hospital notes list several local births surgeries and recoveries. Farmers Co operative Elevator held its annual meeting January 14 reporting gains and board changes including Karl Putnam as new member and Geo Sweet as vice president.

The remains of Dr. Ben Strickler died in San Antonio Texas on Friday Jan 14 were brought home for burial last Friday. Funeral services were held at his brother Dan Strickler’s home with Mr and Mrs Smith of Oelwein the deceased’s latten daughter and Jacob Strickler of Kansas City accompanying the body. Death of George Day Reported in Eldora
Telegraph message announced the death of George Day in Kansas City Missouri due to pneumonia. Day, about T1 years old, was a well known attorney in Kansas City and half brother of the late Dehu Porter. He is survived by his wife and a sister Mrs Charles Kibben of Mitchell. W B Porter left for Kansas City to attend the funeral.
