Ruth Chaney of Jackson township Hardin County was named outstanding club member at the Iowa Short Course for Girls Clothing Clubs. About 5,000 clothing club girls compete statewide. she earned a Singer sewing machine valued at 120.00 for her 105 garments and active club work.

Grim Reaper Comes for Mrs James Smith in Eldora
Community mourns Mrs James Smith who died after grieving for her son Thomas. Born in Lorraine France February 19 484, she moved to America at age 12 and settled in Taois before marriage to James Smith in Towr Falls. Nine children born, four survive. Funeral held at home, burial in Eldora cemetery. Herman C Panthen Tierntan noted. Panthen born Germany September 1 1480 died Eldora January 0 108h aged 68 years 8 months 24 days. He came to America with parents in 1873, lived in Pittsburgh until 1ATH, then moved to Har Min county Eldora. Married October 6, 1892 to Miss Marie Winter of Hubbard. ten children blessed their union.

Fire Destroys Roof: Fire Company Responds
