Tragedy Strikes as Laverne Huffman Dies in California
News from California reports the accidental death of Laverne Huffman, 21, son of Clarence Huffman of Owasa. He was run down by a train while on the coast and his body will be brought home for interment. He leaves his father and eight sisters in a large family and recently wrote of safe arrival two weeks earlier.

Doctor Grace Kent of Danvers Massachusetts visited C Mc Keen Duren's home on New Year's Day. Known as the daughter of Reverend Evarts Kent former pastor of Eldora's Congregational church, she heads psychology at Massachusetts state hospital Danvers and is nationally renowned. She attended the American Association of Psychologists meeting in Iowa City at the end of December.

Burne Are Fatal Mrs Azeltine Dies From Burns
Mrs. Garnet M. Azeltine 25 wife of Leslie H. Azeltine died at a hospital in Iowa Falls after severe burns from a kerosene fire at a home southeast of the city. She had just returned from town with her husband and their 9 month old baby when the blaze erupted. The blast ignited her clothing and she succumbed within hours. She formerly lived in Belmond. Interment Sunday.

Newton William Wentz aged 54 died at his home on New Year’s Day from a self-inflicted wound amid despondency over ill health and fear of a recurrence. Born March 7, 1876 in Montgomery County Iowa, he moved from Oakland to Town Falls and arrived in Eldora in October 1901. He married Genevieve Findley and they had three children, two daughters and a son. One daughter teaches in Osceola, Iowa, and another is Mrs. Howard.
