Watanye Club Hosts Large Evening Dance Event
The Watanye Club stage a well attended dance with about sixty couples enjoying music by a locally formed four member orchestra. Volunteers served iced fruit drinks and doughnuts with coffee in the card room while Miss Lucille Brown and committee prepared a free checking room. Club officers include Miss Laura Hardy as president and Mrs. Nellie Grimes as vice president. The Watanye group, a women’s business club, emphasizes community service and plans new leadership after elections. A separate Methodist church pageant titled Night featured local youths, under Miss Myra Melbury and Miss Edith Babcock, to a large crowd, praised for its talent. A minor accident involved Curtis Steiner’s Ford bumping a storefront window but caused no damage. The Eldora Methodist Sunday School orchestra, led by W. G. Leslig, performed a 27-piece program at the M E church.
